Izman bade farewell to Khartoum yesterday. One by one, Geng Tulips is starting to disintegrate. Hahah. Disintegrate? I make it sound like it's some sort of chemical composite.
Anyway, yeah.. Khartoum's Geng Tulips is slowly losing its members, one by one. Qistina was the first to go home.. she left just before Ramadan last year. Then Rosli left in March (while I was in KL for the F1) and yesterday, it was Izman's turn to say goodbye. And next month, Ezlin + Isba + kids pulak yang akan meninggalkan bumi Khartoum. So it's just me and Dods je yang masih menunggu masa untuk pulang ke tanahair for good.
Well anyway, this entry is specially for Izman and Rosli.. Yesterday, as I was lying in bed after sending Izman off, I looked through the pictures and realized that we've had many pleasant memories together..
This is the orginal Geng Tulips, Khartoum Branch.. :)
And this was when we collected money during Ramadan and pergi shopping for some orphans. I am thinking of doing the same thing this year (some people passed me some money) tapi looks like I will be doing it alone this time. (Unless of course, Rawi and Dodi pun nak join.. heheh.)
Qis and I sempat gi Amsterdam / Belgium together. This picture was taken in Brussels I think. At the Grand Place. Hahah. And this is something uniquely European. I noticed that almost every city ada a square. In Amsterdam, there's Dam Square. In Madrid, there's Porte de Sol. In Venice pun ada square. And even in Brugge, pun ada a square jugak. :)
There's also something uniquely Geng Tulips. We like to makan-makan.. and we like to bergambar masa makan.. hahahah...
Ahhhhh... this is in Jungle Fun. I wonder.. lepas the kids balik for good nanti in June, will I step into Jungle Fun again?
And this is Rosli and Izman. My confidante in Khartoum. It's always fun cooking for them because they don't complain about my cookings lah. I guess, they just redha and makan je kot. Hahah. Sedap tak sedap lain kira. As long as it's edible kan..
Aahhhh.. and our lovely breakfast sessions at Ozone during weekends. Of course, outdoor breakfast is nice when it's not too hot.. These days, Khartoum is soooo hot.. lebih 40 degrees Celcius. Nak step out of the house pun malas.
But yeah.. I've always loved our weekend breakfast at Ozone. We would choose a table under a tree and cuci mata. Ozone memang a favorite place for expatriates.. so it's always nice to check out the Caucasians there. Not that they pay any attention to me, sebab I dah berhijab and I'm always surrounded by the boys.. heheh. But still... :)
Oh. And there's nothing much to do in Khartoum.. so even doing our groceries can become our highlight for the week. Usually, we would go beramai-ramai and then balik and singgah tapau food to makan together-gether at someone's house.
Haha. Even masa beli barang pun, we all sempat lagi nak bergambar. Hahah. We are incorrigibe like that kan? Hahaha..
Naaaaaahhhhhh... Penuh satu boot kereta dengan our groceries for the week!
Oh... and who could forget Geng Tulips' trip to Egypt? This happened just before the conflict in May 2013. Nasib lah we all sempat melawat Cairo before the travel warning was issued and had the chance to visit the Pyramids of Giza and shop for carpets and chandeliers. Alhamdulillah.
Now this year, Ramadan would be different. Kalau last year, I had the Geng to temankan I sembahyang terawih. We even drove to Garden City mosque just to do our terawih sometimes.
But this year.. hmm.. tinggal I ngan Dodi je. So.. entah lah. I would probably do most of the terawih at the Complex je kot this year. But I like this picture (below). It's like, no matter how intelligent or successful you are, you should never forget your religion.
So itu lah. Some awesome memories that I have of Geng Tulips.
Izman, thank you for being such a good friend. For always accompanying me to places - beli groceries, work-related events, party at the US Embassy (hahah).. always willing to teman I gi makan - at Rotana or Ozone when I have the cravings.
Thank you for listening to my rambles and for downloading all the movies that I wanted to watch.
Thank you also for sending me to the hospy when I was sick and for helping out whenever we have our makan-makan session.
Rakhwah told me she couldn't sleep last night thinking about you. "Yes.. people will come and go. But no one is the same like Izman," she said. And I couldn't agree with her more. So yeah, thank you for the memories. Khartoum will not be the same without you.
And Rosli.. I know this is long overdue. But I have been so busy in the past one month. Heheh. Anyway, I miss having you around too. I miss you calling me to walk back with me masa lunch (when Aznan is not around) and I miss our shopping sessions. One thing is for sure, I will never step out of Homecare empty handed when I go shopping with you. Ada je yang kena beli kan.. jug lah... gunting lah.. bantal lah.. hahahha..
I miss our chats too.. our sesi hati ke hati... and I had so much fun with you in Kenya.. especially when kita perasan jadi siblings. Hahahahahhahah.
Thanks guys for the memories. I'm so glad we met. My life in Khartoum became an amazing adventure thanks to Geng Tulips.
Thanks also for the pinggan-mangkuk and microwave.. hahahaha...
I'm blessed.. (hahah.. Izman kata that's my favorite word... but it's true. I am blessed. To be surrounded by kind people.. people who tolerated my whims and fancies. So blessed I am.)
Ok. Nak sambung buat kerja. Tetiba rasa cam nak masak-masak lah esok. I have not cooked in awhile.. :)
