It has been a busy week and it will be an even busier weekend.
Important guests are coming to Khartoum and we have to play host. Already, a team has arrived last night and we are expecting another team to arrive tomorrow.
Prior to their visit, were a series of meetings trying to finalize their itinerary. That, on top of the usual day-to-day work and my target of producing a one-page write-up.
Heh. Yeah. I am now producing a one-page weekly bulletin for the staff here.. just summarizing the week that was, in Sudan.
The extra work that I really don't mind doing because I kinda miss writing and publishing. I miss rearranging the pictures and coming up with catchy captions; stuff that I was doing back when I was at the NST's education desk.
But this new enthusiasm stemmed from Nelson's new project: www.therakyatpost.com (the layout looks somewhat similar to my fav The New York Times.. it's all white and clean)
Yup. He's got a new portal out now.. and it's kinda like a fun news portal, if you ask me. I found a really cool article: Do richer women have better sex?
So yeah. Nels has got a new portal to play with.. and I pun nak lah jugak ala-ala buat newsletter kan...? And guess what? It's FUN!
Okay lah. The stress comes from trying to fill up the space - so you need to find good stories (stuff that are worth reading) - but the fun part is in rearranging the stories and the pictures. Damn, I so miss writing/reporting lahhhhhh...
So anyway... the writing bit was fun.. but was disappointed with other things too. For one, I still can't finalize my Africa trip. Kak Ina macam nak temankan I.. but given the current situation at the office, I cannot decide if the trip would be possible in February. :(
And then I teringat how I fought with this one particular Senior Manager about one particular person.. and how my premonitions came true and I so wish that I could just tell it to his face that I was right.
Tapi taklah. That's not the culture in this Company. Junior staff (by ranking) should not try to berlagak pandai.
And I will just shut up. Plus, my New Year resolution is not to cari gaduh. To just let things slide. This year, I want to select my battles.
Okay lah. It's past 3pm. My work is almost done at the Office (I am on standby sebenarnya..).
I'm tired and sleepy. (Ana ta'bana wa naksana.)
