Oh what news!

Here I am on a Saturday morning.. typing away in the Office. My 'trivial' tasks are kinda settled, and as always, I'm just on standby in case they need anything.

Anyway, been reading stuff on the Internet. George Clooney got arrested again a few days ago, outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington D.C. The arrests were anticipated and part of the actor's effort to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

Bleaurgh. Now as much as I think George Clooney is hawwwwttt, I also think he's a DUMBASS. He's been finding fault with Sudan for the longest time. This isn't his first arrest and it's definitely not gonna be his last.

I personally find George Clooney a DUMBASS because Sudan is petty compared to the problems in other countries. Palestine. Syria. Egypt. And South Sudan!!! Thousands have been killed (in South Sudan) in what was deemed by AlJazeera as "ethnic" war.

And those are nothing compared to problems in Darfur. I have friends who go to Darfur occasionally.. as we have a contract with United Nations African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). Now if there's a genocide in Darfur, why would a Malaysian be allowed to go?

DUMBASS.
Mr Clooney was handcuffed a few days ago
Oh well. People fight all kinds of different causes kan. I had this FB conversation with a friend about McDonalds yesterday. Now this particular friend has stopped going to McDonalds sebab he says that the food chain is supporting the Jewish cause against the Palestinians.

McDonald's refuses to operate in Jewish settlement

McDonald's refuses offer to open chain in West Bank Jewish settlement

I had to tell him that McDonald's actually refused to open a chain in the West Bank.. that although they have Jewish bosses, that doesn't mean they support the Zionists in oppressing the Palestinians.

Not all Jews are bad, as much as not all Muslims are terrorists or extremists, I said.

"MOST Jews are bad. Statistics can proof that," he continued.

And by then, I dah malas nak gaduh. To me, statistics cannot entirely support a hypothesis because statistics can be manipulated.

Case in point: I can go to Kubang Pasu and do a poll on Umno's popularity and I bet "most" people there will support Umno (since it used to be Dr Mahathir's stronghold). But I cannot use that statistics and say that Umno is still very much popular in Malaysia, now can I?

So back to the Jews issue ni.. How can anyone be certain that they are all bad? Likewise, how can the non-Muslims say that "most" Muslims are terrorists?

Oh well. Whatever lah kan. Cuma I did tell him that just boycotting Starbucks or McDonalds is selective boycotting. Kenapa tak boycott semua? Facebook. Intel. Microsoft. Levi's etc.

"We boycott what we can. Every bit counts," he said, ironically over Facebook.

I don't agree. Sebab when he boycotts McDonalds, this will affect the Malay boys and girls who work at McDonalds. If he wants to 'randomly' boycott Jewish companies, he should stop wearing Levi's jeans (because I don't think Levi's has a factory in Malaysia) or quit Facebook altogether. Kan?

Ntah lah. It takes all sorts of people in this world.

I guess, they just want to fight a cause. To be a champion of things. So that they can proudly tell the world that they are doing their part in making this world a better place.

Apa-apa lah Labu. So yeah, he can deny himself the pleasure of having that delicious (albeit unhealthy) double cheese burger.. and George Clooney can continue getting himself arrested for protesting in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington.

Frankly, in my eyes, these aren't the heroes.

The heroes, to me, are those who silently collect money and clothes to help the flood victims. I have friends whom I know spent his bonus to build masjids in Cambodia and another group who helped repair rumah orang asli in the middle of the Pahang and Sarawak jungles.

And I have another friend who helps stray dogs, give them shelter and make them all nice for adoption.

Now these, in my books, are the unsung heroes.

Oh and yeah, I have a friend who went on missions to Palestine to help deliver medicine and stuff. Amazing.

These are people who make a difference.

Not buying a double cheeseburger from McDonalds will not make a difference in Malaysia. Because purchasing power is in the hands of the non-Malays. So if a Malay person didn't buy a cheeseburger, the other non-Malays will still be buying the cheeseburgers and McDonalds will still thrive.

Tapi, that is, my humble opinion.

Ni semua principle masing-masing.

I remember not eating American fastfood stuff for 100 days when Saddam (Hussein) was executed dulu. And no, no McDonalds or KFC or Pizza Hut went bust because I didn't give them any business. Heh. But still, self satisfaction. Knowing that I made a difference to myself because of Saddam.. :)

Ayo. Penat ranting.

I stopped a few times though.. because there were other things that needed my attention.

Heh. In another news, Indian minister's wife was found dead after exposing her husband's alleged affair on Twitter. Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor, wife of minister Shashi Tharoor was found dead on Friday.

Okay, I'm kinda stunned sebab I know Shashi Tharoor. I mean, I remember interviewing him before. At that time, he was kinda representing the United Nations. He was a pleasant man.. very intelligent and very charming. Which is why I could still remember having met him before.

Such is life kan.

Okay. Gotta run. Ciao!
