Life. And mistakes.

So true..
Came in to the office and saw an email.. a letter written by my President. In the initial letter which I wrote, I adamantly concluded the letter with a "Respectfully, xxx". Call me old-fashioned but I think "Respectfully" should be used to people whom you truly respect. Like a Minister.

However, of course ada ramai lagi orang pandai... so the letter was further edited by 2 different people (yang bukan my boss.. sebab my boss always has minor amendments to the stuff that I write). Well anyway, one of the "editors" ni, tukar my "Respectfully" to "Your Sincerely".

Now I don't know if that was intentional, but "Your sincerely"? Shouldn't it be "Yours sincerely"?

When I saw the error the first time, I was hoping that somehow, someone would spot the mistake.

And then, I saw the copy of the letter by Mr President today. There... he signed the letter.. with the error still unchanged.

Can I just close my eyes and wish it never happened?

See... I'm not saying that I have perfect grammar. Heck, friends at NST subsdesk would know that my grammar's pretty atrocious. But I am always extra careful when it comes to important documents.

A lot of Malays (or maybe Malaysians) rasa grammar tak penting. Yang penting adalah isi surat tu. Supaya maksud itu disampaikan dengan betul. True. But grammar makes a first impression kan..? Especially in formal letters.

Ayo. Bebel pulak aku ni. Lets get back to work! :)
