What we did last Saturday..

It's only 1pm but I'm knackered. Replied emails. Went out to see someone. Came back to the office again to send some emails.. and then went out again to see someone with my boss.. and now here I am, trying to reply some more emails before going out again in like 15 minutes.

Damn.. it sure feels like a busy working Thursday for me! Alhamdulillah...

Well anyway, I have decided to ditch the emails and blog instead. After all, it is my lunch time, and I am entitled to some "rest time" kan? Hahah.

So today, I wanna talk about last weekend's trip to Shendi, this place in Sudan where you can see the pyramids. In fact, someone told me that the pyramids were really really old.. as Sudan was once part of the ancient Egypt.

Anyway, Meroe is located about 200km from Khartoum (about 3 hour journey) and is marked by more than two hundred pyramids in three groups, of which many are in ruins. They are identified as the Nubian pyramids because of their distinctive size and proportions.

In June 2011, the Archeological Sites of Meroƫ were listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

Anyway, Geng Tulip decided to go on the trip last Saturday and it was such FUN! Ok.. I puked after lunch and felt so weak on the way home, but that is a different story..

Here are the pictures..
I love the view of the desert... Ni lah baru rasa cam kat Africa! :)
Local kids playing by the roadside..
The view from the backseat..
Spotted: Police patrol car in the middle of the Sahara desert
Kids taking opportunity to sell their stuff while we were flagged down by the police for having a cracked windscreen.
I wish my iPhone camera could do more justice.. the colors were glorious because it was a hot day and everything's so bright and sunny.
Proud is to see a Malaysian-owned retail station in the middle of the Sahara desert.
See the smaller pyramid ruins behind me?
History lesson at the Office near the pyramids.
Di tengah-tengah padang pasir yang gersang.
Really, really fine sand.
Me and the boys. And kids.
The remains of the Nubian pyramids.
Check out Imaan's rosy cheeks. Panasssss!
And the kids were racing with us as we drove past. I wonder how they can run barefooted on those hot sand!
Khartoum Refinery.. in a distance.. (the smoke area)
Ahh.. this is kawasan kilang di Khartoum.
And we have reached the Khartoum suburbs.
Crossing the bridge.. across the River Nile.
Oh.. this was in the morning.. sempat lagi singgah beli tamiya kat tepi jalan.. heheh.
Hahah.. Sususan gambar bersepah.. but this was taken when we had to climb up the hill to go to the pyramids.
Geng Tulips 2013/14 (minus Qis)
Hahah.. Isba and Ikhlas posing depan pintu into one of the pyramids. Frankly, I don't like the way they just cement the thing. Since this is ancient stuff, they should have preserved the structure..
Mamat tengah goreng tamiya pagi-pagi
Tiga teruna "for sale" di tengah padang pasir. Hahahah... Sapa interested, please contact me! :)
So yeah. That was our weekend. Tiring but fun. :)

ps./ Lagi funny when everyone bebel to remind me to take my vitamins selalu so that I don't muntah-muntah.. hahaha..
