Spoke to mama tadi and she told me that my cousin's tongue cancer had recurred. She'll be going for a major op (where they will take out most of her teeth and cut her tongue and replace it with some flesh from other parts of her body) next week. Her mum (my aunt) called my mum suruh sembahyang hajat agar dipermudahkan segalanya nanti.
Sigh.
Kesian my cousin tu. We are exactly 10 years apart but I remember growing up with her. I remember her brother (who is a year or two younger), who locked me in the room when I visited their flat at Holland Drive. I was probably 5 or 6 at that time and it was my dearest cousin sister who unlocked the door when she heard me cry and scream away.
And it was this particular cousin who introduced me to Swensen's in Singapore. She had just started work and wanted to belanja me and it was my indeed my introduction to fancy restaurants.
And it's sad to hear her all sick again.. :(
Actually.. her cancer progressed really fast. It was just during Ramadan last year that she started having mouth ulcer.. which she thought was normal. I would think it's normal to get ulcer too. It's Ramadan, you don't drink much water.. and so you get ulcer quite easily because of the heat.
But the ulcer wouldn't go away. And during the Eid, she finally went to see a doctor who confirmed that she has tongue cancer. Did some surgery, chemo and all.. and she was fine. Well, I saw her in Dec last year and she couldn't talk.. but she got better and managed to talk and eat like normal. In fact, she even came down to KL (from Singapore) for my sister's son's aqiqah last month.
And just now.. mum told me that her cancer had recurred. I rasa sedih lah. She just whatsapped me a few weeks ago, telling me about her first day back at school (she's a teacher) after a long medical leave. And now she will be going back to the hospy!
Such is life kan..
Allah menduga kita pelbagai cara..
Anyway, my dearest cousin.. please take care.. My prayers are with you. Please don't give up. You didn't give the first time and you are not giving up now ok? Your hubby and adorable kids need you. We need you. You will get through this..
