Oh my sweet little orphans

It's true what they say. Ramadan is a month where your patience will be tested.

So we (Geng Tulip minus Rosli and Dodi) decided to go to the Orphanage semalam. We thought we wanted to go to the same Orphanage we went to, last year. Made some calls and Mahmud, the driver, was assigned to take us there. After all, he knew the place because he took us there last year.

Should be an easy evening right? Wrong. Because firstly, he took us to the wrong Orphanage. We traveled quite a bit (outside Khartoum) and when we told him that the road doesn't look familiar, he said he knew the road.. so we shouldn't worry much.

Err. Yeah. As expected, he took us to the wrong Orphanage.

So we made some calls and he said.. "ahhh.. the one in Khartoum town" and all I could do was just roll my eyes. About 20 mins later, we arrived at the Orphanage.. the gate seemed familiar to me (although I swear all gates in Khartoum looks somewhat similar) but when we got inside, we realized.. or rather I realized that it wasn't the Orphanage that we wished to visit.

Good thing there, though, was that it housed a lot of babies and toddlers. Cute ones too. So I'm taking it as a sign from God, telling me that if I want to adopt a baby girl, this is the place to go to. It's in a place called Mayo and has adorable, well fed babies..:)

But we weren't satisfied. We still wanted to give some contributions to the Orphanage that we went to last year, because God knows how they need all the assistance.. so we told Mahmud to look for the Orphanage. "Ha.. I know. You don't want babies.. you want big big babies," he said. "Yes," we said, so went off again.

Not too long after, we reached the Orphanage.. and oh my.. my heart just went out to the boys. We didn't stay too long because by the time we got there, it was almost 6:30pm and we had to rush to Barcelos for buka puasa.

But oh dear... the boys stole my heart again. I met this really cute 6-year-old boy named Salleh and his friend, Mohamad Ramadan and they were very excited to see me.A little part of me did wonder if I should adopt a boy instead of a girl.. so that he could take care of me when he's all big and strong.. tapi tu lah.. How do I make him my mahram? Hmmm..

Anyway, it's such a joy to just be with them.. even if for 5 minutes. They were so chatty and so friendly! :) I wish I can do some sort of regular activity with them.. but what? We don't even speak the same language (and my baby Arabic talk is not yet good enough to have a complete conversation with them).Sigh. But here I am, wishing I can tell them stories, or play football with them.. or teach them Maths and English or something.

Oh well. Will think of something. I hope.

Indeed, happiness is being surrounded by a chatty, excited children.. :)
